It's Almost February - Looking for some Resolution Motivation

New Year's Resolution - What Happened?

New Year's Resolutions - we all make them but how are they going for you now that we are almost into month two of the New Year? We mean well when we make them, but the lack of clarity makes our resolutions very vague. For example "I want to get fit" or "I want to eat a healthy diet and lose weight" or maybe "I want to be happy". This only makes it harder to track your progress and stay committed.

We set big and overwhelming New Year's resolutions thus setting up the expectations that we are going to turn over a new leaf on the first day of a new year. But a new goal in life requires gradual changes so we can make ourselves comfortable with our new habits to ensure the change becomes habitual.

This is a slower process than we imagine, but it is a worthwhile investment of our time.

If you haven't done it already - try my Free Course. This course will help you keep on track to the pathway of your new, healthier lifestyle. My Free Course will walk you through, step by step, all the different sections of health and wellness to bring all the zest and vitality you need in life to reach those goals. There are modules on changing habits, journal writing, relaxation, exercise and why movement is so important. The course covers physical and mental wellbeing. I have set a challenge at the end of the course to help you get started on a new regime combining everything you have learnt which will set you back on track and looking forward once again. As soon your motivation kicks in, the self discipline will do the rest

Making a resolution is the easy part. It's the setting in motion that's not always so easy. For this we need to make a plan and set a goal. This is actually one of the most important parts of changing your lifestyle. By setting your goal, you can then plan your journey by breaking the goal down into manageable segments. This becomes your own personal plan, step by step, with small victories along the way. So, instead of looking at this massive life change, which will always be challenging, we are instead looking at doable stages and small celebrations along the way.

Perhaps your intentions are set for a healthier year concentrating on your relationship with food. Many of our issues with food are deep routed and we need to find a solution to our emotional and habitual eating. Finding the triggers that set these habits in motion can be an emotional journey but also a healing journey. Food is often comforting when our emotions are out of control but we end up despising ourselves for overeating and this is such a destructive cycle.

If you really want to hold yourself accountable for sticking to your resolutions then why not use social media for your motivation. There are many 'negatives' associated with social media these days so lets look at some helpful 'positives' to boost your stimulus with a way forward. There are many group media accounts that offer support for like-minded people or if you like the champion of family and friends you can set up your own profile or group to keep you motivated and supported when you hit those hard times.

If your New Years resolution is to get more active and the gym is not the place for you, then home workouts could be your answer. There are so many to choose from and it can all be a bit daunting at first. I have a great selection here of the best youtube home workouts that cover all components of movement and fitness. From aerobics to resistance bands and cardio to yoga. Staying active is so beneficial for both physical and mental health and it's good to know you can do this safely at home.

So don't give up just yet!! Reassess your resolutions and find new ways to achieve them, whether it's a new plan, journaling or finding support from like-minded people. Just keep going. Remember resolutions are not just for New Year, they can be a lifetime journey. There are no time limits for change.
